End of the Baseball Regular Season is Close at Hand!

This past Tuesday the Diamond Devils of Elbert County were in action against region foe Morgan County. Unfortunately the Devils were blanked by Morgan County losing by a score of 10-0. With this loss the Devils fall to 10-15 overall and to 6-11 in region play. Next up for the Devils is a trip to Oconee County later this afternoon to close out the season. First pitch is scheduled for 5:55pm. As always tune into 96.5 and 1400 WSGC for all of the action.

The Tigers of Washington-Wilkes will also be in action later today taking on Grovetown for their final game of the season at 6:00pm. Tune into 105.3 WSGC for all of the action.

As heard on WSGC 105.3, the Washington-Wilkes Baseball team played Lincoln County and won 17-6 . The next game will be on April 29th against Grovetown at 6:00 PM.

Devils Snap Cold Streak; Tigers Split Weekend Games!

This past Friday the Elbert County Diamond Devils were in action at home against region opponent Jackson County on senior night. Seniors being recognized were: Bentz Johnson, Kart Johnson, Keene Johnson, Austin Jones, and Tyheem Newman. The Blue Devils did things right defeating Jackson County by a score of 9-5. With the win the Diamond Devils improve to 10-14 overall and to 6-10 in region play. Next the Diamond Devils will hit the road to take on Morgan County this Tuesday at 5:55pm. As always tune into 96.5 and 1400 WSGC The Voice of Elberton for all of the action!

We now turn our attention to the Tigers of Washington-Wilkes.

The Tigers were also busy this weekend. The Tigers took on region opponents Hancock Central and Aquinas. The Tigers defeated Hancock Central, but dropped the next game to Aquinas. After this weekend the Tigers record stands at 12-8 overall and 9-2 in region play. Next the Tigers will host rival Lincoln County this Tuesday at 5:00pm.

Washington-Wilkes Baseball

As heard on WSGC 105.3, the Washington-Wilkes Baseball team won 16-4. The next game will be on April 27th against Hancock at 5:00 PM

Woes Continue for Elbert County

The Elbert County Diamond Devils were in action last night against region opponent Franklin County. Both teams were neck and neck heading into the later innings when Franklin County pulled away to win by a final score of 9-6, Thus continuing the cold streak for Elbert County. With the loss the Diamond Devils fall to 9-14 overall and 5-10 in region play. Franklin County improves to 11-10 overall and to 7-8 in region play. Next the Diamond Devils will host Jackson County on senior night! That game is this Friday at 5:55pm.

Elbert County 4-H BB Team

Elbert County 4-H BB Team competed in a qualifying match in Comer, GA this past Saturday. Elbert County Team 1 won 1st in teams. In individual positions Elbert county shooter placed as follows, the prone position Matthew Slay placed 3rd; in sitting position Hunter Vickery placed 1st, Matthew Slay placed 2nd, Brantley Witcher placed 3rd; in the kneeling position Coral Okey placed 3rd; high overall shooter Matthew Slay placed 3rd. All Elbert County Shooter qualified for State, which will be held at Rock Eagle May 1.

Elbert County Golf Teams

The Elbert County Boys Golf Team played Region on Monday and came in 2nd with Eastside taking first only by one stroke with a score of 308 to 307. Leading the team was Allen Bradford with a 72, Parker Hulme 76, Andrew Melton 80, Shad Tueten 80, Connor York 80 and Tyler Winn 83. The Team will continue playing on, going to state on May 3 in Coulmbus Ga.

Also the Girls golf team placed 3rd at Region. Playing for the girls were Hannah Barger with lowest score of 77, Katie McCall 82, Alex Ogelsby 85 and Abby Jordan.
